About us
History of Happy Yoga
Some years ago, together with a group of international yoga teachers, Marion started thinking about and working out the concept of bringing yoga to Tanzania, specifically Arusha, by training young Tanzanian adults to become qualified yoga teachers, who could offer adult, children and teenager yoga sessions. Being inspired by one of the main branches of yoga, Karma Yoga, Marion aimed at offering ‘selfless service’ to the wider community, guiding young Tanzanian adults to become yoga teachers and by doing so bringing yoga to children and teenagers at schools and communities but also to adults, and people with physical disabilities. The motive behind this mission was to bring people, especially children, in contact with yoga at a young age, so they would benefit for the rest of their lives from the yoga techniques. Another motive was to facilitate Tanzanian adults with the possibility to become independent, knowledgeable yoga teachers and to gain an income from teaching.
What Happy Yoga is now
Happy Yoga Tanzania Ltd was founded by Aneth Kishe and Marion Scheltema in 2022, and will keep on offering suitable, young Tanzanian adults the chance to join yoga teachers training and refresher courses. Happy Yoga Tanzania keeps on offering guidance to new students to become professional, independent yoga teachers. The future teachers commit to studying and practicing their skills with Happy Yoga, until they have been fully certified and can start their own classes making their living out of yoga. They can also keep on working for Happy Yoga Tanzania as freelance teachers. All teachers hold a proof of good behavior.
